HOOVER, Alabama -- The #1 Hoover Bucs used a swarming defense to limit the Jaguars offense and go on to defeat Spain Park 42-14 at Spain Park Stadium. Corner Jeremy Williams had a pick six & another interception for the Bucs defense in the first half along with two rushing touchdowns by Bradrick Shaw was the difference in the game.

The Bucs held the Jaguars offense for less than 200 yards to go on to the big region win. Hoover is a perfect 13-of-13 wins over Spain Park in the history between the two teams.

Hoover (4-2 Class 7A, 4-0 Region 3) started the scoring off as Jack Hutcheson to Trey Bracket on a 5-yard slant touchdown pass. The Bucs lead early 7-0. Shaw scored his first touchdown on a 4-yard run and Hoover extended their lead to 14-0.

The Bucs defense scored next on Williams pick six in the second quarter. The Jaguars scored their first half touchdown on a Mason Duke to Trenton Harper 29-yard passing play. Hoover finished out the scoring in the first half when tight end Quincy Cox scored on a 56-yard touchdown pass from Hutchenson for his second passing TD of the half. Hoover led 28-7 at the half. Hoover had 216 yards of offense and Spain Park had 118 yards of offense in the first half.

In the second half, Hoover had a five play, 48-yard drive and scored on a Shaw 10-yard touchdown run. Marcus Webb had two 10-yard plus runs to setup the Bucs touchdown. Hoover led 35-7 with 5:34 left in the 3rd quarter.

Hoover scored their final touchdown of the game, when backup junior quarterback Chris Vacarella raced 50-yards for a Bucs score. Hoover led 42-7 early in the fourth quarter.

Spain Park scored the last touchdown of the game on a Larry Wooden 2-yard touchdown run with 2:48 left in the game.
