 Moutain Brook at Hoover | 7A Region 3 game | Friday, September 5, 2014
RB #27 Bradrick Shaw, Hoover vs Central, Miami

You have to go way back to see where Hoover had lost two football games in a row. It happened back in 1998 where the Bucs lost four games in a row under former coach Gerald Gann. This season, the Bucs just didn't lose to any football teams. They lost to national powers #9 Central Miami, Florida and #22 Colquitt County, Georgia by a combined score of 35-59.

Hoover tried to play for a national championship of high school football the first two weeks of the season and now they turn their attention to Alabama high school football and 7A region power Mountain Brook Friday night at the Hoover Met. If there is a team that knows Hoover, it is Mountain Brook.

Mountain Brook is coming into this game coming off a heart break last second loss to Huntsville last week. A 22-yard field goal with three seconds left in the game left the Spartans winless in their 2014 opener.

The Spartans look to Jacob Carroll to lead the offense at quarterback. Carroll can throw it or run it anytime on the field. Carroll has a couple of receivers to go to in Wilkerson Anthony and Drew Odum. The front five is anchored by offensive lineman Reid Pyburn and Robert Sparks.

The Spartans defense have a scrapy group. Defensive lineman Weston Williams and Parker Crane is solid on the front line. Carter Dukes is a good run stopper that looks to limit the Bucs run game.

Mountain Brook is the last team to defeat Hoover in region play.

For Hoover, the Bucs will try to get back in the win column after two hard fought football games. "We have learned some lessons about ourselves the last two weeks," said Bucs head coach Josh Niblett. "We have to look at ourselves in the mirror and get back to who we are. Were excited about our opportunity we have in front of us tonight."

The Bucs run game looks to get back on track with Bradrick Shaw and company. "Were a little young up front and really trying to get everyone on the same page," added Niblett. "Were having a hard time getting our backs to that second level but we have made some changes but we need to excecute as a whole group. We have to do better on first down and have dropped some passes that have killed drives and we just have to come together as a team and it starts tonight."

The Bucs defense gave up very few points last season and look to turn it around after diving up 59 points in the two games this year.
