TRUSSVILLE, Alabama -- The #7 Hoover Bucs scored a late touchdown and the two-point conversion for an 8-7 win over #6 Hewitt-Trussville at Hewitt-Trussville Stadium on Friday night. With only 26 seconds and trailing 7-0 late in the game, Noah Winston scored from the 1-yard line along with a Mac Beason to Hunter Perdue two-point conversion game, the Bucs the one-point win in a Class 7A, Region 3 matchup. 

When Hoover (3-1, 2-0) needed it, they made enough plays on offense to get the win. A huge Beason-to-Perdue catch moved the ball deep into Huskies territory, and a Beason-to-Reggie Jackson catch put the ball at the Husky's 1-yard line, where Winston punched in the touchdown on the next play. "This feels great; we fought adversity for the whole game," said Bucs quarterback Beason. "We couldn't get anything going but came out and scored to win the game."

After the Hoover touchdown late in the game, the Huskies moved the ball down the field and had a chance at the end to win. After a Hoover 15-yard penalty near midfield and a 21-yard pass play from Huskies quarterback Noah Dobbins to James Kelly set up a Huskie field goal attempt. A 45-yard field goal sailed wide right as time expired, and Hoover took the 8-7 win. 

Hewitt-Trussville (3-1, 1-1) moved the ball on its first drive of the game but came away with no points. The Huskies had the ball deep in Bucs territory, and wide receiver Dylan Cope took a reverse and ran into the end zone, but the play was called back due to a holding call. The Bucs defense held on to that possession, and the Huskies missed out on a good scoring opportunity to start the game.

In the second quarter, with the Huskies having the ball at midfield, CJ Davis ripped off a huge run down to the Bucs' one-yard line. On the next play, with 2:26 left in the second quarter, Noah Dobbins scored the touchdown, and the Huskies took the 7-0 lead into halftime.

The Huskies defense created three turnovers in the game but it wasn't enough. Parker Floyd picked off a deflected pass in the first half, while Harrison Malone picked off an interception in the second half. Mason Holloway recovered a fumble. “Our defense played great tonight,” said Hewitt-Trussville head coach Josh Floyd. “Thought they played really, really well. We had trouble getting off the field in the second half. We didn’t run hardly any plays the entire second half. They ate the clock the entire second half and kind of dominated the second half.”

Next, Hoover will host undefeated Prattville (4-0, 2-0) while Hewitt-Trussville will host Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa (2-2, 0-2).
