The game had everything: highlight-reel touchdowns, gutsy special-teams play, defensive breakdowns, and a packed crowd that was on its feet until the final whistle. With Hoover getting the last score before the half, Parker turned the momentum around in the second half as they scored first in the second half. With 7:42 left in the third quarter, Jeremiah Jackson scored on a 3-yard touchdown run and the Herd cut the lead to 24-13. Hoover rallied after the Parker score, and with 4:42 left in the third quarter, CJ Cowley scored on a 5-yard touchdown run around the right end, and Hoover led 31-13.
Parker relied on their passing game and defense to get back in the game in the fourth quarter, and the Thundering Herd made big play after big play. With 11:50 left in the fourth quarter, Dylan Reese went deep and hit Georgia Tech commitment Kentrell Davis on a 64-yard touchdown pass play, and the Herd cut into the lead once again to 38-21. Parker forced a three-and-out on the Bucs offense, and here came the Herd's big-play offense once again. With 9:20 left in the fourth quarter, Reese hit Lazayveon Lowe on a 55-yard pass play, and Parker cut the lead to 38-28 early in the fourth quarter. The Parker defense got into the action as Freeman went back to pass deep into his own territory. With 9:08 left in the game, Nedarius Davis caught a tipped pass from a defensive player, and he raced into the end zone for a Parker score, sending the Herd sideline into a frenzy.
With 6:37 left in the game, Hoover needed to respond once again, and they did it with a big play in the passing game. JR Mosley took a short pass, broke a tackle, and raced 41 yards for a Bucs touchdown. With the score, Hoover led 45-35.
