Offensive Lineman Stanton Ramil - Thompson High School

OL Stanton Ramil (Thompson) with his brother (Peter Ramil) and sister (Olivia Ramil) at the Atlanta Under Armour Camp

After winning a 7A state championship for the Thompson Warriors, offensive lineman Stanton Ramil is having a busy off-season with camps and recruiting. The 6-foot-7-inch, 300-pound left tackle is working hard these past few months improving his football skills.

Ramil is coming off a trip to Atlanta in participating in this past Under Armour Next All-America camp. "I was blessed to be given an opportunity to compete at the camp," said Warriors OL Ramil. "It is truly a honor to be invited and named an Under-Armour All-American."

In July 2021, Ramil transfered from Binghamton, New York to Thompson High School. His dad played football for Alabama, his two sisters played basketball at Samford and his aunt lives in the Alabaster area, so the move to Alabama was a perfect fit for him. "My parents wanted to give me the best opportunities and Thompson High is the clear choice for me." added Ramil. "The intensity and the amount of care the community, school district, and players have for football is special. I believe the values of hard work, tenacity and teamwork that football teaches are universally good, no matter where it is played."

Assistant coaches Tyler Scozzaro and Trey Clark have worked with Ramil this off-season as he is continually trying to improve his craft. "I'm really focusing on my foot speed and how low I play," said Ramil. Thompson Head Coach Mark Freeman likes what he sees in his lineman. "Stanton is a great person with a terrific work ethic" said Freeman. "He has great skills and a high motor. It will be his first full off-season of workouts. Should be a totally different athlete come August."

John Garcia, Jr. with Sports Illustrated commented on his recent play in Atlanta last weekend. Garcia posted this about Ramil, Thompson offensive tackle has improved on his frame since moving to Alabama from New York area in the middle of his prep career and on Sunday he looked as polished as our staff has seen him of late.

Recruiting is taking off these past two months for Ramil. SEC schools Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Missouri have offered. Big Ten schools Nebraska, Indiana, Northwestern and Michigan State have offered. Other schools in Florida State, Central Florida, South Florida, UAB, Virginia, Colorado, Pittsbugh, Syracuse, Marshall, Louisville and Duke have offered.

Ramil took a visit to Auburn on Junior Day and was very impressed on this trip last month. "The Junior Day at Auburn was great despite all of the controversy going on," said Ramil. "I really believe that the coaches and players are forming a family that wants to be the best." Ramil is hoping to get out the Carolina schools for spring ball during spring break. Also, he is looking to see the Mississippi schools this month but nothing set yet.

Look for more offers to come his way in March.
