QB Bo Nix (Pinson Valley) warming up before game vs McAdory

McCALLA, Alabama -- Quarterback Bo Nix threw for four touchdown passes and ran for another as Pinson Valley defeated McAdory 47-13 Friday night. Nix only missed on one pass in the first half as the Indians offense cruised for much of the first half.

Pinson Valley (1-0) led 26-7 at the half and didn't look back. The Indians defense even scored tonight on a QB fumble recovery in the end zone. "I'm proud of the win and we have some good things to build on," said Indians Head coach Patrick Nix. "We had some good, some bad things in the first game. We started out fast but it didn't end the way we wanted it to, but to get the win in the first game that is what only matters. I'm very proud of the team."

Pinson Valley scored on their first three possessions of the game. The first TD came with 7:55 left in the first quarter when Nix threw to wide out Demarion Hollman in the flat and the receiver busted a tackle in space and Hollman ran it into the end zone. Coach Patrick Nix and Bo Nix was at Scottsboro last season and both have made a great transition to Pinson Valley. "The guys have been really good to me and we have meshed really good together," said QB Nix. "We came out and played our game. The receivers made plays and a great job by our O-line giving me time to throw the football." Nix, one of the top players in the 2019 class, listed Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU and Ohio State in his top 8 colleges.

Nix had a huge game for the Indians. He completed 25-of-33 passing for 288 yards and four touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. Henderson had 9 catches for 103 yards and one touchdown.

With 8:07 left in the half, McAdory scored on a Ethan Wade pass to Jordan Shakeel who made a couple of great moves before finding the end zone. Pinson Valley still lead 20-6. With 3:48 left in the half, defensive end John Christopher Spencer came around the end and tracked the Yellow Jackets QB and knocked the ball out of his hands and Demarco Harris jumped on the ball in the end zone for a Pinson Valley touchdown. With the score, the Indians led 26-7.

With less then a minute left in the half and the Yellow Jackets driving, defensive back Rhasaan Christian intercepted a McAdory pass in the end zone and to keep McAdory off the scoreboard right before the half. Pinson Valley led 26-7 at halftime.

With 2:13 left in the third quarter, Nix found Orion Morris open in the middle of the field and Morris ran it in from 31-yard touchdown pass play for the Indians. Pinson Valley led 33-7.
